KULTALI DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR COLLEGE since its very inception in 2005 has been striving to the best of its abilities to help students in the cultivation of mind to propagate ideas and translate those intellectual ideas into reality. Kultali, situated in the Sunderban biosphere, is a densely populated area. However, though there were seven feeder schools, yet no college till 2005. The need for an institution for higher education led to a strong demand from the local inhabitants and this in turn instigated to the establishment of the college in 2005. Local people irrespective of caste, creed, religion, colour and social status extended their valuable support and cooperation of the establishment and further development of this institution. A blood donation camp with 1380 enthusiasts donating their blood to raise the required fund of the college so that the college can get its affiliation is nothing but a reflection of the zeal, vigour and passion of the people behind the establishment of the college.
Late RatikantaHalder and Sri KhargeswarKayal – the land donors of the college will be fondly remembered with deepest reverence in the history of the college. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, the then President, Sri KantiGanguly, Ex-Minister-ln-Charge of Sunderban Development Affairs, was requested for Government approval for the college. Subsequently, the college got its approval of the Government of West Bengal on 21st October, 2005, vide order No: 704/1(13) Edn (CS).
Located in backward area, far away from Kolkata, this dream project of Kultali is still affiliated to the University of Calcutta, which is famous for its glorious and rich cultural heritage. The college expresses its sincere gratitude to the Honourable Minister-ln-Charge of Sunderban Development Affairs, Sri ManturamPakhira, for his assurance to provide all kinds of assistance for the growth and development of the institution. The annex building of the college has been inaugurated by Our Honourable Chief Minister, Smt. MamataBandyopadhyay on 08.12.2014. We express our heartiest gratitude to her. The college has reached its present height of brilliance in the hands of our present Governing Body President honourable Sri Saktipada Mondal and our Honourable Principal Dr. Siuli Saha Dalal and other members of the Governing body. Their tireless sincere efforts and dynamism is leading the college towards progress. The college has received U.G.C Affiliation and in near future will also be NAAC accredited.
Since its establishment, the college has been following a unique philosophy in imparting education. It believes in providing all round facilities to the students so that they develop as responsible citizens of the future. It helps the students in inculcating discipline, morals, values, ethics, sportsman spirit and cooperation.
