The Department of Philosophy is one of the first few departments with which KultaliDr.B.R.Ambedkar College started its journey towards imparting education to such a rural belt, like kultali , south 24 Parganas , where most of the students come from SC, ST ,minority and other backward classes. At present the department is running with two full-time teachers- Sri Milan Natuya , Assistant Professor, HOD and Dr. Sumita Dutta, Assistant Professor. Besides our Ex-Principal Madam ,Dr.Siuli Saha Dalal , during her tenure , has also taken classes as and when required , for the benefit of the students. Shri Barun Kr Ghosh also served the department from August 2014 to February 2020 approximately ,as Assistant Professor.From the start ,the department offers both honours and pass (general course) andit is to be mentioned that this department has been serving seven departments by offering philosophy at the pass/general level besides offering an Honours programme.Along with its regular teaching and academic activities this department conducts various seminars, lectures etc for academic developmentof the students.
It should be mentioned here that the University of Calcutta in order to cope with the huge task of conducting examinations of General subjects at the B.A./B.Sc. both of Part I, II level (Three -Year Degree Course1+1+1 System) and of CBCS System, made this department zonal centre for philosophy general paperfor a very large section of students and Dr. Sumita Dutta acted as Head examiner and successfully performed the job with which she is entrusted.
Many students of the department got Ist class and got admission to M.A and established themselves in various spheres of life. At present teachers are trying to serve their best to help students in various ways and give valuable suggestation and guidance , so that they can established themselves, in their future endeavour.
Along with its regular offline activities,the college upgraded its function and activities by switching over to online activities from time to time , as and when required. The admission process, administration, cultural activities, seminars, conferences, meetings etc are going on through online mode , as and when required. Online classes are also taken for the benefit of the students. Library facilities are also upgrading so that students and teachers get access to books and journals periodically through online mode.
